Amed in the Rainy Season

Amed in the Rainy Season

Part I: A Cool Retreat Beyond Bali's Bustle

Nestled away from the frenetic pace of Bali's more bustling regions, Amed emerges as a serene haven, particularly enchanting during the rainy season. What began as a planned one-night stay evolved into an unexpected and extended sojourn, spanning five nights and counting. Amed's allure lies not only in its tranquil surroundings but also in the unique experiences waiting to be uncovered, all against the backdrop of a cooler temperature compared to the rest of Bali.

This fisherman town, situated in East Bali and set against the majestic backdrop of Mount Agung, the island's largest volcano, offers a respite from the usual tropical heat. The coolness that permeates Amed invites visitors to a state of calm, allowing them to unwind amidst the rhythmic patter of raindrops and the distant murmur of the iconic volcano.

Upon our arrival, the charming discovery of Rimba, a cozy Western-style café nestled in the city center, added a delightful touch to our Amed experience. The menu, a fusion of local and international flavors, left us spoiled for choice. Little did we know, our one-night stay would transform into an opportunity to savor multiple delights on their menu over the course of the week. Noteworthy recommendations include the irresistible Mister Pink Smoothie Ball, the hearty beef burger (with ample vegan options), and the delectable Kofta Wrap.

As nightfall draped Amed in a mystical ambiance, our culinary adventures continued with the discovery of Warung Bobo on the beach. While the food was a food, the true magic unfolded through a musical group accompanied by a lively bunch of kids. Together, they belted out powerful renditions of recent international hits in various languages, creating an unforgettable experience. A night at Warung Bobo became a must-see, infusing our Amed nights with a rhythmic harmony.
